Ischemic stroke is a common condition that affects over 600,000 individuals in the United States each year.1  An ischemic stroke occurs when blood supply leading to the brain is blocked by a blood clot.  Brain cells that are not able to get enough blood and oxygen die, which may result in a disabling injury or death.
