Arthur T. Taylor President and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Taylor most recently served as Vice President and General Manager for the Kyphon Products, Spinal & Biologics Business of Medtronic, Inc. Prior to Medtronic’s acquisition of Kyphon in late 2007, Mr.Taylor served as Kyphon’s Chief Operating Officer from 2006, and as Chief Financial Officer from 2004 through 2006. Prior to his Kyphon tenure, Mr. Taylor gained in-depth experience across the medical device industry while serving as Chief Financial Officer for ReSound Corporation, a hearing healthcare company, and in executive positions with Allergan, Inc. and American Hospital Supply Corporation. Mr. Taylor holds a B.S. in Corporate Finance from San Diego State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
Vice-President of Engineering and Manufacturing Mr. Anthony joined PhotoThera in January of 2008 as the Vice-President of Manufacturing. His most recent experience is from Abbot Vascular/Guidant Corporation, where he was Director of Operations for the Endovascular Solutions (ES) Business Unit. Mr. Anthony established the entire supply chain infrastructure for the ES Business Unit and was part of the management team responsible for the successful launch of the first carotid stent and embolic protection system approved in the U.S. Mr. Anthony was also part of the management at Origin Medsystems prior to its acquisition by Eli Lilly & Company and Eli Lilly's formation of Guidant. Mr. Anthony brings to PhotoThera over 20 years of in-depth manufacturing operations experience. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Mary's College of California and a MBA from Santa Clara University.
Luis De Taboada Mr. De Taboada joined PhotoThera in 2001 as Vice-President of Research and Development. He was responsible for the design, development, and preclinical testing of the devices including those used during PhotoThera’s NEST-1 and NEST-2 trials. Prior to working at PhotoThera, Mr. De Taboada worked as Director of New Product Development at Laser Mechanisms, establishing and managing West Coast operations. Previously, he was Engineering Manager at Medical Optics, a division of Kaiser Aerospace and Electronics where he led the development of novel Carbon Dioxide lasers, laser systems, fiber beam delivery systems, and research in head mounted displays for minimally invasive surgery. Mr. DeTaboada holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the
Thomas J. McCarthy, D.V.M. Dr. McCarthy has served as Vice-President of Science and Research since May 2007; having previously served as Vice-President of Clinical Affairs and Vice-President of Marketing. From 2002-2007 Dr. McCarthy held Director roles in Business Development and Marketing with ev3, Inc., and MicroTherapeutics, Inc., an interventional neuroradiology company acquired by ev3 in 2006. He has also held management positions in Marketing, Business Development, and Biological Resources at Edwards Lifesciences/Baxter Healthcare. Dr. McCarthy completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Illinois Medical School, holds D.V.M. and B.S. degrees from the University of Illinois, and an M.B.A. from Webster University. He is a Diplomate in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Steven P. Richieri Mr. Richieri has overall responsibility for Clinical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance at PhotoThera. Previously, Mr. Richieri served as SVP/Head of Operations for Egea Biosciences from 2002 to 2005 and was a key member of the executive team responsible for the sale of Egea to the Johnson and Johnson Corporation in May, 2004. From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Richieri was a co-founder and served as President and CEO of NuVista Technology Corporation, a privately-held medical device company. During that time, he also co-founded ALSP, a privately held drug discovery company. Prior to NuVista and ALSP, Mr. Richieri served as Chief Operating Officer for The Immune Response Corporation, a publicly-traded biotechnology company, where he was responsible for all corporate operations and product development activities between 1991 and 1999. From 1983 to 1991, Mr. Richieri was VP of Regulatory and Technical Affairs at Dura Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Richieri received a B.S. in Pharmacy from Rutgers College of Pharmacy and a M.B.A. from the University of San Diego.
