PhotoThera was incorporated in May 1997 under the name Acculaser, Inc.  The company was founded by Jackson Streeter M.D., who, as a US Navy TOPGUN instructor and flight surgeon was intrigued by the possibilities of using infrared energy for therapeutic applications.
