PhotoThera, Inc is a privately-held medical device company located in Carlsbad, CA.  The Company is developing proprietary, noninvasive laser energy therapies that may revolutionize the clinical care and management of ischemic stroke, traumatic brain injury, global ischemia and other conditions characterized by disturbances in cellular metabolic function.  

The Company’s initial product, the NeuroThera^® Laser System, will focus on the Transcranial Laser Therapy (TLT) of acute ischemic stroke.  Estimates show that, in the United States, there are more than 600,000 ischemic strokes annually, and that stroke is the leading cause of serious long-term disability. In an initial clinical trial, TLT with the NeuroThera device demonstrated safety and efficacy up to 24 hours after the onset of stroke. A 660 patient pivotal clinical trial is currently underway.   

The company is funded by a group of well-known venture capital firms including Delphi Ventures, DeNovo Ventures, Hamilton BioVentures, The Vertical Group, Solstice Capital, Warburg Pincus LLC and California Technology Ventures.
